Kia ora koutou,
With a fine weather forecast this week, it’s a great opportunity to get outdoors!
Here’s what we’ve got planned for Wednesday’s volunteer morning (14 May, 9am at the RLT Depot):
- Long Beach dune access repairs
We’ve been asked to rally some muscle to help repair storm damage to the access ways protecting the dunes. Bring a shovel and bucket if you have them. You can either meet at Long Beach or at the Depot and head over with the team — just let us know where you plan to meet.
- Autumn bird count
A peaceful task with a big impact — help us monitor how predator control is supporting native birdlife. Wear good grippy walking shoes and bring a parka or something waterproof to sit on during the five-minute counts.
- Trap repair
We’ll be working on DOC200 stoat traps to get them ready for redeployment in the field.
Note: With two activities out in the field, we’ll have a combined morning tea/lunch at around 11:30am back at the Depot to give everyone time to return.
