Kororareka’s First Repair Event

13 September | 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Russell Landcare Trust is hosting a local Repair Event for the community – a place where people can bring precious, useful, or long-neglected items to be repaired instead of thrown away.

Whether it’s a broken appliance, torn clothing, or a wobbly chair, skilled volunteers will help bring it back to life.

This is a free, community-driven event aimed at reducing waste, sharing knowledge, and giving old items a new lease on life.

Come along, connect with others, and be part of the repair movement!

Please read the following important information if you’re bringing your broken items along to the event:

👉 Our 2025 Repair Event Volunteers include: sewers, jewellers, electrical appliance fixer and more! Please keep this in mind when selecting items to bring to the event.

👉 This event is intended for smaller household objects, what you can carry. Larger or more specialised items may not be able to be looked at or fixed.

👉 The work performed and advice offered at the Repair Event is carried out voluntarily by the repairer.

👉 This is a free community event; however, a koha/donation is greatly appreciated to support the fixers and Russell Landcare Trust’s mahi.

👉 Volunteer repairers are entitled to decline to repair items at their discretion. Repairers are not obliged to reassemble appliances that cannot be repaired. The visitor is required to safely remove and dispose of broken items that cannot be repaired.

👉 Visitors are encouraged to participate in the repair of their broken item under the guidance of the repair volunteer, or the repairer will demonstrate the repair process to the visitor.

👉 In general, replacement parts will not be provided by the repairers. Any use of materials or parts, such as wires, plugs, batteries, zips, etc., should be supplied or paid for by the visitor.

👉 Repairs being performed by volunteers reflect the assignment of risks and limitations of liability: The coordinators and volunteers of the Repair Café event offer no guarantee for the repairs or attempted repairs, nor are they liable for any injuries, direct or indirect losses, claims, property damage suffered or incurred by any nature. Notwithstanding these guidelines, a visitor may have rights under the Fair Trading Act 1986 and the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993.
